Bleeding or pain while passing stool is a common concern. Most patients immediately assume it is piles. However, one of the most common causes of severe anal pain is actually a fissure. Although both conditions affect the anal region and may cause bleeding, piles and fissure are completely different problems — and their treatment approach is also different.

Understanding the difference helps you avoid self-medication and delayed treatment.

If you are experiencing anal pain or bleeding, do not self-medicate. Early consultation makes treatment easier and prevents long-term complications. While piles and fissure may seem similar because both cause bleeding during stool, the nature of pain and underlying cause are completely different.
